Rio III
Captains: Jim and Betty Betscher
Rio III is a ministry outreach area we serve. It is a shanty village of over 100 homes located on the northwest corner of the city of Monterrey. We serve alongside a local church, Casa de Misericordia as we minister to over 120 children and 40 moms. Most of the families live on less than $10 a day.
The church was started in 2005 and is pastored by Pastor Edelmiro Gonzalez. The soup kitchen is run by the outreach director, Olga Hernandez. Back2Back first started working here in the spring of 2008.
They hope to construct a ministry center that would not only have the soup kitchen but also have medical offices and an area for clothing distribution. The church has services on Sundays and Wednesday nights for adults and a service for the kids every Saturday.
Back2Back is coming alongside of this church to help them carry out their mission. We are providing materials and group labor to help in the construction of the soup kitchen. We also want to assist them with any other needs that come up.
Vision:
To minister to the people of the community by sharing the gospel with them in practical ways.
Mission:
Teach the community the Word of God as well as meet their physical needs of food and clothing.
