Jim is originally from Cincinnati and joined the staff in Monterrey full-time in January 2007. In October of that year, he married Betty on the campus of Back2Back. She is originally from Monterrey. Together they are parents of seven children. Ryan, married to Alli, lives in Cincinnati, as does Tallie. The other five, Jonathan, Priscilla, Kevin, Brenda and Ashley, live with them in Monterrey. They also have two grandchildren in Cincinnati.
Together, Betty and Jim are captains of the ministry area Rio III. There, they share a passion to serve some of the poorest children in Monterrey. This is accomplished by not just giving these families gifts and money. Their desire is to support Olga and The House of Mercy Church in this area to share God's love with the children and their families. They especially enjoy leading groups of Americans to join them in this work.
Jim is also captain of Casa Hogar Douglas. Betty's training as a social worker is a valuable asset as they seek to minister to the needs of the 70+ children in this children's home. Their desire is to not just address the physical needs but the emotional, spiritual, educational and social needs of these fractured families. Currently, God is using Back2Back Ministries and our many Shelter sponsors to provide over 80% of the monthly operating expenses of this home.
Betty and Jim consider it a great blessing and honor to be a part of the Mexico staff.
